28 LinkedIn Ads Prompts for Claude and ChatGPT

Quick Answer
These are 28 copy-and-paste prompts for running LinkedIn Ads analysis inside Claude or ChatGPT, grouped into eight categories: budget and strategy, creative and formats, audiences and demographics, account hygiene, pipeline and CRM, ABM and company engagement, reporting and meetings, and agency workflows. They require an MCP server connected to your LinkedIn ad account — the prompts return nothing useful without live data behind them. Every prompt asks for landing page clicks rather than total clicks, because LinkedIn's default click field counts likes, comments and profile clicks as if they were website visits. Six prompts additionally need a CRM connection, and three need an account list uploaded.

Before You Start

These prompts assume an MCP server is connected to your LinkedIn ad account. Without one, an assistant will answer from general knowledge, which for account-specific questions means it will make something up that reads well. Setup takes about five minutes and is covered in connecting LinkedIn Ads to Claude.

Three conventions used throughout:

  • Every prompt names landing page clicks explicitly. Ask for "clicks" and you may get LinkedIn's all-inclusive field, which counts likes, comments, shares and profile clicks. See why that breaks your CTR.
  • Prompts ask for a ranked, bounded output. "Give me the top three" beats "analyse everything" — a list you cannot action is not an answer.
  • Follow up. The first response is a summary. Asking "why?" makes the assistant query again rather than re-summarise.
💡 Two flags to watch
Six prompts below need a CRM connection (HubSpot or Pipedrive) because they join ad data to deals. Three need an account list uploaded for ABM comparison. Both are marked. The other nineteen work on ad data alone.

Budget and Strategy

1. Full-funnel coverage

Find opportunity · Make a decision

Break my campaigns into top, middle and bottom of funnel, and show spend and share of budget for each stage over the last 90 days. Flag any stage with less than 15% of budget. For each gap, tell me which format I should be running and roughly what it would cost to fill it.

2. Budget allocation by commercial impact

Find waste · Make a decision

Rank my campaigns by spend over the last 90 days. For each, show landing page clicks, LP CPC, leads and cost per lead. Identify the three campaigns taking the most budget with the weakest commercial return, and the three underfunded campaigns performing best. Recommend a reallocation and estimate the effect.

Creative and Formats

3. Thought Leader Ads report

Prove value · Make a decision

Give me a thought leader ads report for the last 90 days. For each author, show impressions, engagement rate, landing page clicks, LP CTR and LP CPC. Compare LP CPC against my other formats. Tell me which authors are worth more budget and which posts should be promoted again.

4. Lead-generation forms report

Find waste · Make a decision

Report on my lead gen form campaigns for the last 90 days. Show form opens, actual submissions, submit rate and cost per submission — calculate CPL on submissions only, not opens. Flag any form with a submit rate below 15% as likely friction and tell me how many fields each has.

5. Creative themes, hooks and messaging

Find opportunity

Look at my top 10 and bottom 10 creatives by LP CTR over the last 90 days. Identify what the winners have in common in hook, format, length and theme, and what the losers share. Give me three specific angles to test next based on that pattern, not on general best practice.

6. Conversation Ads report

Find waste · Make a decision

Report on my conversation ads for the last 90 days. Show sends, opens, open rate, click-to-open rate, leads and CPL. Judge these on open rate rather than click-through rate. Flag any campaign with an open rate below 40% and tell me whether the issue looks like bidding, audience or the opening message.

7. Ad-fatigue report ⭐

Find waste · Make a decision

Identify creative fatigue across my active campaigns. For each creative, show frequency, and the trend in LP CTR and LP CPC over the last 30 days versus the 30 days before. Flag anything where frequency is climbing while LP CTR is falling, and rank by wasted spend.

Audiences and Demographics

8. Professional-demographic waste against your ICP

Find waste

Break down last 90 days of spend by job title, seniority, company size and industry. Compare against my ICP and tell me how much budget reached people outside it. Rank the biggest sources of waste in pounds and tell me which exclusions would fix each one.

9. Targeting and exclusions review

Find waste · Make a decision

Review targeting on all active campaigns. Flag any using audience expansion, any delivering to the LinkedIn Audience Network, and any missing exclusions for competitors, existing customers or irrelevant seniority. Show what each is costing me and rank the fixes by spend recovered.

10. Reach, frequency and audience saturation

Make a decision

For each active campaign, show audience size, reach, penetration rate and average frequency over the last 90 days. Flag anything under 30% penetration as under-delivered and anything over 10 impressions per person as saturated. Tell me which audiences need more budget and which need refreshing.

Account Hygiene

11. Account and campaign hygiene

Find waste · Make a decision

Run a hygiene check across the account. Flag campaigns with no active creatives, creatives with no destination URL, campaigns running past their end date, budget pacing issues, and any campaign with spend but zero landing page clicks in 30 days. Rank by wasted spend.

12. Conversion tracking and data-quality check

Find waste

Check my conversion tracking. Which conversions are defined, which are firing, and which campaigns have spend but no conversion tracking attached? Flag any conversion that has not fired in 30 days and any campaign optimising toward a conversion that never fires.

Pipeline and CRM

These five need a CRM connection.

13. Influenced pipeline and revenue ⭐ Needs CRM

Prove value

Show total pipeline and closed revenue influenced by LinkedIn Ads over the last two quarters. Break down by campaign and by funnel stage. Use an influence model rather than last click, and tell me how many touchpoints the average influenced deal had before it was created.

14. Directly sourced versus influenced pipeline Needs CRM

Prove value · Make a decision

Split LinkedIn's pipeline contribution into directly sourced and influenced. Show deal count and value for each, and the average deal size difference. Tell me what share of total pipeline LinkedIn touched at all, and which campaigns drive sourced versus influenced.

15. Lead quality and CRM progression Needs CRM

Find waste · Make a decision

Track leads from LinkedIn Ads through CRM stages over the last two quarters. For each campaign, show leads, how many became opportunities, and how many closed. Show cost per lead alongside cost per opportunity. Identify campaigns with a great CPL that produce nothing downstream.

16. Pipeline acceleration Needs CRM

Find opportunity

Compare sales cycle length for deals that had LinkedIn ad exposure against deals that had none. Break down by deal size. Tell me whether ad exposure before opportunity creation correlates with faster closes, and at what frequency the effect appears.

17. Reconstruct a company journey before it became a deal Needs CRM

Prove value

Take my three largest closed-won deals from the last two quarters. For each, reconstruct the full journey: when the company first saw an ad, which campaigns and creatives they engaged with, how many touchpoints, over what period, and when the deal was created. Present as a timeline.

ABM and Company Engagement

18. Company engagement report without an ABM list

Find opportunity

Show me the companies engaging most with my ads over the last 90 days. For each, show impressions, engagement count, and whether anyone clicked through. Flag companies with three or more engagements and zero landing page clicks — these are watching without identifying themselves. Rank by engagement depth.

19. Find companies showing new intent

Find opportunity

Compare company engagement over the last 30 days against the 30 days before. Show companies that were not engaging before and are now, and companies whose engagement has increased sharply. Exclude existing customers. Rank by change in engagement.

20. Compare LinkedIn reach against an uploaded ABM list Needs upload

Find opportunity · Make a decision

I am uploading my target account list. Tell me what percentage of these companies my ads have reached in the last 90 days, at what average frequency, and which have engaged. Show me the coverage gap and what additional budget would be needed to reach the rest at 5+ impressions each.

21. Find target accounts LinkedIn is failing to reach Needs upload

Find waste · Find opportunity

Using my uploaded account list, identify target companies with zero or very low impressions over the last 90 days. For each, tell me the likely reason — audience definition, budget, bid, or company size below LinkedIn's matching threshold — and what to change.

22. Connect ABM engagement to CRM progression Needs CRM + upload

Prove value · Find opportunity

Using my uploaded target account list and CRM data, show which target accounts have both engaged with ads and progressed in the CRM. Identify accounts engaging heavily with no CRM activity — these should be worked by sales — and accounts progressing with no ad exposure.

Reporting and Meetings

23. Monthly performance report

Save time · Prove value

Write a monthly LinkedIn Ads report for last month. Include spend, impressions, landing page clicks, LP CTR, LP CPC, leads and cost per lead, each compared to the previous month. Cover what changed and why, what we are doing about it, and the three priorities for next month. Use landing page clicks throughout, not total clicks.

24. Weekly account brief

Save time · Make a decision

Give me a weekly brief on this account. What changed versus last week, anything that needs attention now, and the single most useful thing I could do this week. Keep it under 200 words and lead with the action, not the numbers.

25. Explain why a metric changed

Make a decision

My [metric] moved from [X] to [Y] between [period A] and [period B]. Work out what drove it. Check campaign mix, audience changes, creative rotation, frequency, bid changes and delivery shifts. Rank the contributing factors by how much each explains, and say clearly if the data cannot account for the change.

26. Executive or board summary

Prove value

Write a board-level summary of LinkedIn Ads performance for last quarter. Lead with pipeline and revenue influenced, not impressions or clicks. Three bullets on what worked, one honest bullet on what did not, and the ask for next quarter with the expected return. No jargon, under 250 words.

Agency Workflows

27. Agency portfolio review

Save time · Make a decision

Across every account I have access to, give me a one-line health summary each: spend last 30 days, LP CPC trend, CPL trend, and the single biggest issue. Rank accounts by which need attention most this week. Flag any with a material change versus the previous 30 days.

28. Standardise client reporting across accounts

Save time

Produce the same monthly report for each of my accounts using an identical structure: spend, landing page clicks, LP CTR, LP CPC, leads, CPL, month-on-month change, and three priorities. Use landing page clicks throughout. Output each client in the same order and format so they are directly comparable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these prompts work without an MCP server?+
No. Without a connection to your LinkedIn ad account, an assistant has no data to work from and will answer account-specific questions from general knowledge, which means inventing plausible numbers. The prompts are only useful once live data sits behind them. Connecting takes about five minutes.
Why does every prompt say landing page clicks instead of clicks?+
LinkedIn's clicks field counts likes, comments, shares, profile clicks and company page clicks as well as visits to your landing page. On thought leader ads the gap is routinely 3 to 10 times. Asking for landing page clicks by name means your click-through rate and cost per click describe actual website traffic rather than social engagement.
Which prompts need a CRM connected?+
Five: influenced pipeline and revenue, directly sourced versus influenced pipeline, lead quality and CRM progression, pipeline acceleration, and reconstructing a company journey. A sixth, connecting ABM engagement to CRM progression, needs both a CRM and an uploaded account list. These join ad data to deal data through HubSpot or Pipedrive. The other prompts work on ad data alone.
Can I use these with ChatGPT rather than Claude?+
Yes. Model Context Protocol is an open standard, so the same prompts work in any MCP-compatible assistant, which today includes both Claude and ChatGPT. Output formatting differs slightly between them but the underlying data and the tools being called are the same.
Should I edit these prompts?+
Yes. Change the date ranges, swap in your own ICP definition, and adjust the thresholds to match your benchmarks. The structure is what matters: name the metric you want, bound the output to a ranked list you can act on, and ask a follow-up question rather than accepting the first summary.
What should I ask after running one of these?+
Ask which tool the assistant called and what date range it applied, so you can verify the number. Then ask why, which makes it query again with the context of what it just found rather than re-summarising the same result. The second and third questions in a session are usually where the insight is.
