What do you need to connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude?
Three things: access to the LinkedIn ad account, a Claude plan that allows custom connectors, and a LinkedIn Ads MCP server. You do not need engineering help, a developer app, or anything installed locally.
- A LinkedIn login with access to the ad account in Campaign Manager. To make changes through Kiin you also need Analyst access on that account in Kiin (paid, or during the 14-day trial).
- Claude. Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise all allow custom connectors; Free allows one.
- An MCP server. This sits between your ad account and Claude. There are many for LinkedIn Ads and they are not equivalent; we compare them in best LinkedIn Ads MCP servers.
If a setup guide tells you to run terminal commands, that is a self-hosted server. A remote server like Kiin is simpler, and there is no reporting advantage to running one locally.
How to connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude, step by step
Sign up for Kiin with LinkedIn, add https://mcp.kiin.co in Claude under Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, sign in, set the tools to Always allow, and ask a question you can check.
Step 1, sign up. Create a Kiin account with LinkedIn and connect your LinkedIn Ads account. LinkedIn asks for two permissions: the Ads API, and Community Management for thought leader ads. Kiin sees only the accounts you connect.
Step 2, add the server to Claude. Open Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector (older versions: Settings → Connectors), name it Kiin and paste https://mcp.kiin.co. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds it first under Organization settings → Connectors.
Step 3, sign in and allow the tools. Claude opens Kiin's sign-in. Afterwards set the Kiin tools to Always allow. Writes still need your confirmation, because Kiin's first write call only shows a preview.
Step 4, ask something. Start with “give me an account snapshot for last month”. If the numbers match Campaign Manager, you are connected.
Can I connect LinkedIn Ads to ChatGPT the same way?
Yes, with the same Kiin account. On a paid ChatGPT plan, add Kiin as a custom connector with https://mcp.kiin.co/mcp, sign in and enable it in a new chat. The exact ChatGPT screens, LinkedIn's own read-only ChatGPT app, and plan rules are on how to connect LinkedIn Ads to ChatGPT.
What are the first five prompts worth running?
A snapshot, the waste question, a format comparison, the warm-accounts question and an audit. Most people connect, ask “how are my campaigns doing”, get a summary and never come back. These five are where it starts earning its place.
1. The snapshot. “Give me an account snapshot for the last 30 days. Include spend, impressions, landing page clicks, leads and cost per lead.” Naming the metrics matters: ask for landing page clicks and you get traffic.
2. The waste question. “How much of last month's spend went to job titles outside our ICP?” Demographic data exists in Campaign Manager but is spread across screens and rarely reconciled against the target list.
3. The format comparison. “Compare our thought leader ads against our single image ads on cost per landing page click.” On total clicks, thought leader ads look one way; on landing page clicks, often another.
4. The warm accounts question. “Which companies engaged with our ads more than three times but never clicked through?” These accounts never appear in a click report. This is the list your SDRs should be working.
5. The audit. “Run an audit and give me the three things to fix this week.” Ask for three. Constraining the output is most of the skill. Kiin can then prepare the fixes as previews for you to confirm.
How do you get real answers instead of flattering ones?
Name the metric, ask which tool was used, and ask follow-ups. LinkedIn's API returns a field called clicks that counts likes, comments, shares and profile clicks alongside landing page visits. At the median account only about 1 in 7 clicks reaches your website, so CTR built on it reads high and CPC reads low.
Name the metric you want. “Landing page clicks”, not “clicks”. “Cost per landing page click”, not “CPC”. Kiin returns these as the primary traffic metrics.
Ask which tool it used. “Which tool did you call and what date range did you apply?” If the assistant cannot say where a number came from, do not act on it.
Ask follow-ups. The second and third answers are where the insight is, because Claude re-queries with what it just learned.
The principle we apply to every client report: clicks are not traffic, form opens are not leads, and video views are not attention.
What if the numbers look wrong?
Check the date range, the account and the token, in that order. Most mismatches with Campaign Manager are a different date range or time zone, a different ad account, or an expired LinkedIn token serving stale data.
Data has stopped updating. Ask “is my LinkedIn connection healthy?” A silently expired token is the most common cause.
It cannot find campaigns. The ad account was not connected in Kiin. Add it and ask again.
A change did not happen. Kiin's first write call is a preview. Confirm it, and check you have Analyst access on that account.
It cannot answer at all. Some questions are not answerable from ad data. “Why did our CPL go up?” may be a landing page change that no ad report shows.
Where do you go next?
Ask better questions rather than more of them, and add your CRM. Connecting HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Attio lets Claude show influenced pipeline: deals at companies your LinkedIn ads reached or engaged before the deal.
