FAQ
Questions buyers ask first.
What is B2B CTV advertising?
B2B CTV advertising is a 15 or 30 second video ad shown in streaming apps on internet-connected TVs, targeted to the companies and job titles a B2B company sells to rather than to a consumer demographic. It is bought through LinkedIn, which matches its members to households, or through a DSP using IP and household matching.
Can a B2B company advertise on Netflix or other streaming TV?
Yes. Streaming TV ads, including Netflix's ad tier, are sold programmatically through the major DSPs. If you need the ad to reach a named account list rather than a demographic, LinkedIn CTV on publishers such as Paramount, Roku, Samsung and NBCUniversal is the most precise route today, because it targets with LinkedIn's own professional data.
How much does B2B CTV cost?
Media: the median LinkedIn CTV CPM in our panel of 31 advertisers is $25.76, against $96.43 in the same advertisers' feed. Under 50,000 members it rises to $46.97. A readable eight-week flight is $5,600 to $15,000 of media. Management: CTV is included in Kiin's Full Paid Media retainer at $5,500 a month (about £4,150), media separate and never marked up. Standalone CTV management is quoted on a call.
What is the minimum budget for CTV?
LinkedIn CTV in Campaign Manager starts low; the median campaign in our panel ran $75 a day for 40 days, about $3,000, which proves delivery but is too small to read an effect. LinkedIn audience deals through a DSP have been reported at $50,000 over 30 days. We recommend CTV once an account spends about $30,000 a month on LinkedIn, so CTV is a slice of a working programme rather than the programme.
Can you target specific companies with CTV ads?
Yes. LinkedIn CTV targets uploaded company lists and job titles, matched to households by LinkedIn. Programmatic CTV matches company IP addresses and modelled households, which reaches further but matches less precisely. In our panel, list-targeted CTV held 31.6 seconds of attention against 21.0 for cold audiences, and produced 3,125 of 3,782 post-view conversions.
How do you measure CTV for B2B?
In order of weight: reach and frequency into the named list, engagement on targeted versus untargeted accounts in LinkedIn's Companies tab, feed metrics on the same list before and during the flight, post-view conversions through the Insight Tag, brand or site lift where the flight qualifies, and pipeline in the CRM against a holdout of accounts left out of the CTV list.
Is CTV worth it for B2B?
It is worth it as cheap, unskippable reach into a named list for companies with enterprise or upper mid-market deals, a list of 20,000+ members and buyers in the US, Canada or the UK. It is not a lead channel, and the claim that it lifts your other LinkedIn campaigns is not yet shown in independent data: our three tests on 12 to 26 accounts found no significant halo.
Do I need a TV commercial?
You need a 15 and a 30 second spot at 1920 x 1080 with sound designed for a living room. Most clients cut them from existing video or thought leader footage; we write the brief and the edit notes. A screen recording with a voiceover is not a TV spot.
Which countries can run B2B CTV?
LinkedIn CTV in Campaign Manager runs in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and LinkedIn audience deals through DSPs are US only. In our panel 28 of 31 CTV advertisers targeted the US, 19 Canada and 2 the UK. Elsewhere, account-based programmatic CTV is the route.
CTV vs OTT: what is the difference?
CTV is the screen: a smart TV, streaming stick or console. OTT is the delivery: video streamed over the internet rather than cable. In advertising the terms are used almost interchangeably; B2B buyers usually mean CTV, the living room television.
How is Kiin different from a CTV-only agency?
A CTV-only agency or platform buys and reports the TV line. Kiin runs CTV with the LinkedIn, Google, Meta and Reddit campaigns on the same list, plans it from the only independent LinkedIn CTV benchmark (31 advertisers, $811,149) and measures it against a holdout in your CRM.
