What LinkedIn Ads management includes
"Management" is the word every agency uses and almost none define. This is the scope on a Kiin LinkedIn Ads account, in full, for the flat fee:
| Area | What is done |
|---|---|
| Strategy and structure | Full-funnel architecture: thought leader ads at the top against a named account list, 180-day retargeting segmented by engagement depth, conversion campaigns underneath. Campaign groups, budgets and objectives set per layer |
| Targeting | ICP definition, account list build and upload, seniority and function filters, exclusions, audience sizing to the budget (not the other way round), matched audiences from CRM and site traffic |
| Creative and copy | Ad copy, single image and document ad production, conversation ad message flows, creative rotation on a cadence set by audience size. Thought leader ads content is an add-on at $1,000 a month; managing the TLA campaigns is included |
| Bidding and budget | Manual bids set low, CPM on engagement objectives, Audience Network off, daily budget pressure capped at $2 per 1,000 audience members, weekly pacing |
| Tracking | Insight Tag and Conversions API, conversion definitions rebuilt, lead gen forms wired to the CRM, offline conversion import where the CRM supports it |
| Optimisation | Weekly: penetration and account-level frequency, fatigue alerts on engagement and landing page click rate, creative refresh, bid and audience adjustments, negative company and title lists |
| Reporting | Bi-weekly call, written monthly report, live dashboard. Landing page clicks, cost per landing page click, reach as a share of the target audience, influenced pipeline where a CRM is connected |
| Audit | The eight-layer account audit run monthly against 1,000+ connected accounts |
Not included: the ad spend itself, which goes to LinkedIn on your own account; landing pages, which are an add-on at $2,000 a month; and design beyond ad creative, at $100 an hour. Nothing is marked up.
What happens each week
An account that is "managed" and an account that is looked at once a month at reporting time are different products. On a Kiin account, every week:
- Monday — pacing and delivery check across every campaign, bids adjusted where a campaign is under- or over-delivering, weekend performance reviewed (weekends click 9 to 10% better and cost 1 to 4% less, so they stay on)
- Midweek — account-level deduplicated frequency read, not campaign frequency; fatigue check on engagement rate and landing page CTR against cumulative frequency; creative refresh queued for anything past its refresh window
- Every week — lead quality review against the CRM: which titles, which companies, which campaign; exclusions added; conversation ad replies routed
- Bi-weekly — the call: what moved, why, what changes next fortnight, with the numbers on screen
- Monthly — written report, the eight-layer audit, budget reallocation between funnel layers
The person who does this is the person who audited the account at the start and the person on the call. There is no account manager you meet once and a junior you never meet.
The operating rules we manage by
These come from Kiin Labs' 2026 study of $31M in LinkedIn spend across 464 accounts, every comparison paired within account. They are the rules on every account we manage, and they are published so you can hold us to them.
- Objective. Brand awareness on cold audiences of 30,000 or more. Engagement on retargeting pools, uploaded lists, anything under 10,000, and anything that needs acting on. Never both objectives on a small audience.
- Frequency. Every cap, alert and refresh decision uses the account-level deduplicated number, which runs two to three times the campaign figure: campaigns report 3.5, accounts deliver 9.5.
- Fatigue. Alerts on engagement rate and landing page click rate against cumulative frequency, never on cost per click and never on days live. Under 10,000 people, a new creative every two weeks; over 100,000, monthly.
- Bidding. Bid low. The highest-bid campaign in an account pays 128% more per engagement and gets 32% less. Bid type does not matter; bid amount does. Audience Network off.
- Cost. First on any account: audience past 30,000, budget pressure under $2 a day per 1,000 members, at least half the spend on cold targeting, bid capped at $3. Those four settings separate $25.46 and $6.42 per landing page click. Creative comes after.
- Creative. Single image, the author's own voice, a link if the post needs one. The author explains 67% of engagement variance; hooks, length, links and launch day are noise. Video thought leader ads cost 2.4× more per landing page click.
- Targeting. A seniority filter, usually Director and above, and one or two functions — reaching the C-suite costs nothing extra. An uploaded list is a cold audience with a higher CPM, not retargeting.
- Calendar. Weekends on. Annual budgets front-loaded into Q1, when CPM is 30% lower than Q2. December on.
- Measurement. Landing page clicks, cost per landing page click, engagement rate, reach as a share of audience. Never total CTR, never total CPC.
What we report and what we refuse to report
LinkedIn's headline clicks field counts likes, comments, shares, "see more" expansions and profile clicks alongside visits to your site. On thought leader ads, 91% of "clicks" never reach a landing page: total CTR 4.56% against a landing page CTR of 0.43%. Most managed-service reports show the big number as traffic. Ours do not.
| We report | We do not report |
|---|---|
| Landing page clicks and landing page CTR | Clicks and CTR (the inflated fields) |
| Cost per landing page click | CPC on total clicks |
| Reach as a share of the target audience; account-level frequency | Impressions as a headline number; campaign-level frequency |
| Engagement rate and cost per engagement, for thought leader ads | "Engagements" as a proxy for traffic |
Lead form submissions (oneClickLeads) | Form opens as leads |
| Conversation ad opens, open rate, click-to-open | Clicks on conversation ads |
| Influenced pipeline and cost per qualified opportunity, from the CRM | Cost per lead as the final number |
Your first Kiin report will probably look worse than your last agency's. It will also be the first one that is true. What a good LinkedIn Ads CTR actually looks like, and why every published benchmark is inflated, is in this piece; the full set of medians is on LinkedIn Ads benchmarks 2026.
Managing LinkedIn Ads in the UK
We are based at 167–169 Great Portland Street in London and roughly half of our accounts are UK or European. Three things change when the audience is British:
Audiences are small, so saturation is the risk. A tightly defined UK B2B SaaS audience is 15,000–40,000 people; the US equivalent is several hundred thousand. The same monthly budget that paces sensibly in the US will drive UK frequency into double figures inside a month. Penetration and account-level frequency are checked weekly, and audience size is widened before daily budget is raised.
UK titles do not map to LinkedIn's seniority filter. "Head of" can be the most senior person in the function or a mid-level manager. We target by function and company in the UK more than by title, and correct seniority manually.
Budget floors bite harder in pounds. Around £3,000 a month in media is the realistic minimum for a full-funnel test in the UK, on top of management. UK CPMs run £25–£60 and landing page clicks £6–£40 depending on format; the ranges are on LinkedIn Ads cost UK.
The agency positioning, UK clients and London specifics are on LinkedIn Ads agency UK. This page is the service scope; that page is who we are.
Taking over an existing account
Most accounts come to us running. The first fortnight is the eight-layer audit, and the same problems show up on most of them:
- Tracking broken or measuring the wrong event — on about half of inherited accounts
- No mid-funnel: cold awareness campaigns and demo-request campaigns with nothing between them
- Reporting on total clicks, so the account looks 3–10× cheaper than it is
- Budget pressure far above $2 a day per 1,000 audience members on a list under 10,000 people
- Bids set to LinkedIn's suggested amount, which is set for LinkedIn's revenue
- Audience Network on
We fix tracking and structure before touching creative, because the study is unambiguous that settings move cost far more than creative does. You keep your account, your history and your data throughout — we work inside it as a partner, never through our own.
