Completion is half of what a lead costs.
Why it matters
Form completion explains about half of the difference in cost per lead between LinkedIn accounts; CPM explains about a third and click rate a fifth. In the same account, moving a demo ask from the feed to the inbox cuts cost per demo lead by 57%, because the form completes 42% of the time instead of 3.9% (Report No. 4, a stricter same-account cut).
What good looks like
In the feed, a good completion rate is 18.7% for a content offer and 4.2% for a demo request; exceptional is 31.6% and 9.5%.
What to do
Put the demo ask in a message or conversation ad, or behind a content offer first. Remove fields: adding a phone number field cuts completion by 66% and raises cost per lead 135% in the same account.
Where the number comes from
Kiin Labs Report No. 3: 489 advertisers, $13.6M of lead gen form spend. Completion is LinkedIn's lead count divided by its form open count, medians across accounts with 100 or more form opens: 87 accounts for feed demo forms and 52 for inbox forms.
