LinkedIn Ads benchmarks for finance audiences 2026: what it costs to reach CFOs and finance teams, from 188 accounts and $3.4M

Quick Answer
A LinkedIn campaign that targets the finance or accounting function costs $38.47 per 1,000 impressions (about £30) at the median account, with half of accounts between $22 and $82. Landing page CTR is 0.27%, a landing page click costs $17.15 (about £14; middle half $10 to $36), and a lead through a lead gen form costs $340 (middle half $119 to $676), falling to $119 on a document ad at 16.1% completion and rising to $452 on single image, video or carousel at 3.1%. The US is the dear market at $75 CPM against $43 in the UK. Finance has the widest CPM spread of any function: the dearer quarter pays nearly four times the cheaper quarter per impression, driven by US enterprise targeting. Source: 1,325 campaigns in 188 advertiser accounts, $3.4M, 12 months to 7 September 2026, LinkedIn Audience Network excluded, Kiin Labs.

This is the third of seven audience cuts of Kiin Labs' LinkedIn Ads Benchmarks 2026: what advertisers pay when the campaign's targeting includes the Finance or Accounting job function. Finance is the function with the widest range in the series: CFO targeting in the US at enterprise scale prices like nothing else on the platform, and mid-market finance in Europe prices like the panel median. Every number is the median advertiser account, not a pooled total; ranges are the 25th to 75th percentile, so half of accounts sit inside them; pounds are at $1 = £0.79. The whole-panel comparison is LinkedIn Ads Benchmarks 2026 and the series hub is benchmarks by audience.

Against the whole 944-account panel (CPM $36.23, landing page CTR 0.23%, cost per landing page click $17.54), finance sits at the median on impression cost and slightly better on click rate and cost per visit. What stands out is the top of the range: the dearer quarter pays $82 per thousand, against $61 to $66 for HR and IT, because a large share of finance spend is US enterprise CFO targeting.

Finance is a document-ad function. At the median account a form completes at 4.9% and a lead costs $340; on a document ad completion is 16.1% and the lead $119, the largest document premium in the series; on single image, video or carousel it is 3.1% and $452. Finance buyers read benchmark and compliance documents in the feed and ignore feed forms. In the lead gen forms study a finance-function content lead was among the cheaper functions and the demo figure was withheld for sample size. No seniority filter gives the cheapest finance lead ($210) because finance managers and analysts download content, while director-and-above only costs the most per impression ($47.51) and per click ($25.64). Manager-and-above is the balance: $35.91 CPM, $17.38 per landing page click, 5.4% completion. The CFO reads what the controller sends up; target the controller for content and the CFO for the demo, in the inbox.

Finance is the function where company size targeting matters most for the click: mid-market and enterprise finance click through at 0.29% and cost $12.89 and $11.84 per landing page click, against $20.84 with no size filter, because the unfiltered audience is full of one-to-fifty-person bookkeeping firms. Leads are the reverse: SMB finance leads cost $340, mid-market and enterprise $494, because the enterprise ask is a demo.

The US costs 74% more per impression than the UK for finance audiences ($75 against $43) and 40% more per visit, with a higher landing page CTR (0.31% against 0.25%). Leads cost $501 in the US and $564 in the UK at the median, on small samples (30 and 17 accounts). Most finance spend in the panel is US-targeted, which is why the top of the CPM range is so high. The UK cost page in pounds is here; the global cost page is how much do LinkedIn ads cost.

LinkedIn's demographic report shows where the impressions went, whatever the targeting said. Pooled across the cut's campaigns, with the within-campaign index (100 = that campaign's average) for the cost and click rate of each segment:

Directors take the largest share of impressions, but the notable rows are the cheap ones: impressions to 51-to-200-employee companies cost $7.73 per thousand pooled, and 201-to-1,000 companies $15 to $16, against $50 for 10,001-plus. That is the auction telling you where the competition is. Owner and CXO impressions cost 16 to 19% more than the campaign average; entry-level impressions click through to landing pages at 1.6 times the campaign rate, which is junior finance staff clicking on tools they cannot buy. Exclude entry level and the smallest companies unless you sell to them.

Audience size and frequency

The median campaign in this cut runs to 50,000 members (middle half 13,000 to 260,000). Within a campaign, as cumulative impressions pass through the audience:

Finance audiences fatigue moderately: click rate down 3 to 7% through the first three passes and 11% after five, CPM easing 5 to 11%. The median campaign runs to 50,000 members; at $25 to $50 a day that is one pass a month, so a monthly creative refresh keeps pace. The reasoning is in LinkedIn ad frequency and fatigue.

How Kiin targets finance

  • Controller and finance manager for content, CFO for the demo. A wide audience (finance or accounting function, manager and above, one country, 201 to 5,000 employees: 40,000 to 100,000 members) and a titles audience (CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Head of FP&A, Controller, Head of Treasury) of 10,000 to 30,000.
  • Exclude the profession selling to finance: accounting firms under 50 people, financial advisers, bookkeeping services, banking sales roles, and students. Finance audiences without exclusions are half advisers.
  • Document ads for everything gated. The largest document premium in the series (16.1% completion against 3.1%, $119 against $452): benchmark reports, compliance checklists, close-process templates, in the feed as the document.
  • Company size filter on from day one: 201-plus employees halves the click cost against an unfiltered audience.
  • US budgets at 1.7× UK budgets for the same reach, and separate campaigns per market so the US does not eat the spend.
  • Retarget the readers with the demo: finance is the function where the document-to-demo sequence works because the reader has already spent four minutes with your numbers.

Who this is for

Companies selling to the finance function: accounting and ERP software, FP&A and planning tools, spend management and expense, accounts payable and receivable automation, treasury and payments, tax and compliance, procurement, revenue recognition and billing, fintech infrastructure, and the accounting and advisory firms that sell to the same desk.

FAQ

How much does it cost to advertise to CFOs and finance teams on LinkedIn? +
At the median account targeting the finance or accounting function: $38.47 per 1,000 impressions (about £30), $6.16 per click as LinkedIn counts clicks, $17.15 per landing page click (about £14) and $340 per lead through a lead gen form, $119 when the form is on a document ad. Half of accounts fall between $22 and $82 CPM. In the US the median CPM is $75; in the UK $43. Data: 1,325 campaigns, 188 accounts, $3.4M, 12 months to 7 September 2026, LinkedIn Audience Network excluded.
Is finance an expensive audience on LinkedIn? +
At the median, no: the same CPM as the platform and a slightly cheaper visit. At the top, yes: the dearer quarter pays $82 per thousand, the widest spread of any function, because US enterprise CFO targeting is the most contested finance inventory. Mid-market and enterprise finance in Europe click through at 0.29% and cost $12 to $13 per landing page click.
What is a good CTR for LinkedIn ads targeting finance? +
0.27% landing page CTR at the median finance-targeted account (middle half 0.13% to 0.37%), above the 0.23% panel median. Single image runs 0.35% at the campaign median, carousel 0.37%, document 0.05% (the click opens the document), video 0.04%.
What do finance leads cost on LinkedIn? +
$340 per lead at the median account with a lead gen form (middle half $119 to $676), across 268 campaigns, 72 accounts and 2,657 leads. On a document ad the median is $119 at 16.1% completion, the strongest document result in the audience series; on single image, video or carousel $452 at 3.1%. Accounts with no seniority filter paid $210 a lead; SMB finance $340; mid-market and enterprise $494.
Should I target CFOs by title or by function and seniority? +
Function plus seniority for content: finance or accounting function, manager and above, $35.91 CPM and $17.38 per landing page click, with the controller and finance manager as the reader. Titles for the demo ask (CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Controller, Head of FP&A), in a message ad rather than a feed form. Director-and-above only costs $47.51 CPM and $25.64 per click, the dearest option, for no gain in click rate.
Which ad format works best for finance audiences? +
Document ads, by a wider margin than any other function: 16.1% form completion and $119 per lead against 3.1% and $452 for single image, video and carousel. Carousel and single image for traffic (0.35 to 0.37% landing page CTR), video for retargeting pools only, message ads for the demo.
How big should a finance audience be on LinkedIn? +
The median finance-targeted campaign runs to 50,000 members (middle half 13,000 to 260,000). A function plus one country plus 201-plus employees lands at 40,000 to 100,000; titles for the demo at 10,000 to 30,000. Click rate falls 3 to 7% over the first three passes and 11% after five.
Who is this benchmark for? +
Companies selling to finance and accounting teams: ERP and accounting software, FP&A, spend and expense management, AP and AR automation, treasury and payments, tax and compliance, procurement, billing and revenue recognition, fintech infrastructure, and advisory firms. It is what advertisers targeting the finance function pay; the seniority, size and format tables are the levers.
